Lionfish - the deep sea preditor

Lionfish are invasive in the Caribbean and have been spotted in Curacao for the past couple of decades. Since we started in 2010 we have seen no big increase of these species on our reef at Sea Aquarium. The biggest change we have seen is the migration to deeper depths of these species. We regularly spot them past Scuba dive depths, sometimes even up to 500ft!

This is a video of a peculiar behavior of one that we encountered at approx 300ft deep and we couldn't seem to shake until we were at 500ft. It had a particular interest in our front-seat passengers. Never have we been able to record similar behavior on camera.
